Hiroko was born in Osaka and graduated from Waseda University. Having lived in the UK and US for 25 years, she enjoyed sharing her interpretations to answer questions about Japan from locals. After coming back home country, she became a guide. Thanks to her ancestors who built the original Odawara Castle and their connection with Hakone Shrine, she feels special about guiding Hakone.
Hi, I’m Hiroko. I dream of supporting Hakone’s tourism through Explore Hakone. During my work at the government, I found my 15th-century ancestors deeply related to Odawara and Hakone, which proved what my uncle had used to tell me was true. The more I guided the area, the more I felt drawn and attached to it, as if my ancestors wanted me to show guests around the world their ‘ex-territory’ and share the nature, history, culture, and people they loved.
